Former Marine Wade Stuart, an ATF special agent, finds himself working undercover in his home territory, Mississippi, infiltrating a militia unit with lofty goals. When Stuart uncovers a plot to assassinate the governor and take over the state as part of a people's revolution, Washington plans to send in the 2nd Marine Division to attack the militia. Powerful. This stand-alone is easy to follow and difficult to put down. The violence is not graphic. No drag-you-down drama.The storyline about militias and the federal government is compelling. The descriptive writing is concise and eloquent.
Realistic procedures, actions and reactions.
Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking and memorable dialogue.

If the President of the United States wants these motherfu@@ dead, that’s fine with me. Let’s get it on.”

I eagerly await the next book produced by Philip Thompson! I have read the four that I have found to appear interesting, thoroughly enjoyed them and await his coming entries.
I enjoyed the book, but the subject is pretty scary. So many weird people running around with all kinds of ideas on the way things are and the way things should be. Just pretty scary. A good read.
This is the author's first foray into fiction, and he does an excellent job with the story. It centers around an ATF agent who discovers a covert militia attempting to overthrow the government. Very relevant even today. Amazed that this was written in the 90's. It could easily be set in modern times.
